However, the effectiveness of biological inoculants is all about diversity, soils need to contain a broad range of beneficial organisms (fungi, bacteria, protozoa beneficial nematodes etc). Without diversity many narrowly based ‘bio-products’ which may show promise in laboratory testing, fail under competition in the real world.
