Insects & Disease
Most pest and disease problems are amplified by the depletion (in both number and diversity) of beneficial soil organisms or the destruction of their soil habitat. Plants that are stressed or unhealthy quickly become prime targets for pests and disease. In the transition to healthier soils we have identified a number of more natural products to help you manage pests and disease infestations.

BioPhos Phosphorous Acid By-Product for Fungal control (14.5%P w/v - 22%K w/v)
NemaGo Plus
NemaGo Plus is a complex of natural organic plant extracts which have the ability to deter root feeding nematodes, it was developed as a result of research into the effects of the extracts from several plant species (including Yucca, Neem and Garlic), which were believed to have a number of potentially beneficial properties for agriculture and horticulture.
Continuing research and practical use has demonstrated significant improvements in plant growth in a number of experiments where plants have been subjected to pressure from nematode infestation. The studies were initiated following grower reports that these compounds were able to help in the control of root feeding nematodes.
NemaGoPlus is best used as a preventative in early Spring and early Autumn, or strategically at times when plants may be under stress from environmental factors.
Application Rates:
For best results water into the root zone.
General rates:
- Apply at 50 litres /ha (5 litres/1000m2), with sufficient water to drench the soil.
- If possible agitate spray tank.
- If using in combination with biological inoculants such as Soil & Plant Tonic, follow Tonic applications by approx one week.
Re-apply if problem persists.
- DO NOT apply when temperature exceeds 30C

BiSect
BiSect combines the beneficial insect deterring properties of several naturally occurring botanical oils, including Neem and Garlic. It can be used as a foliar spray where it can provide a physical barrier to leaf sucking insect pests or it can be incorporated into the soil to deter root feeding insects. BiSect also possesses anti-fungal qualities and foliar applications are a useful preventative against a range of infections.
BiSect contains 825ppm of Azadiractin, the major natural active compound fund in Neem oil, it also contains a range of beneficial trace elements and is regarded as a bio-balancer. Neem has been used for centuries in India for of its many beneficial properties in human health and agriculture. It contains more than 25 active compounds that can provide a deterrent effect against many common insect pests however beneficial insects are unharmed because they do not feed from the plant.
Application Rates:
BiSect is best used as a preventative, applied strategically at times of stress, at the start of a pest cycle, or at the first sign of a problem occurring it can be used as a foliar spray or a soil drench.
For intensively managed turf such as Bowling and Golf greens:
Apply 300ml – 350ml per 1000m2 mixed with sufficient water for an even coverage.
For General use including Agriculture/Horticultural use:
Add 450 ml – 500 ml per 75 litres of water and spray sufficient to cover all parts of the affected plants.
As a fungal deterrent - leave on the leaf
As an insect deterrent - against cut worm, army worm and other subterranean pests - water in following application.
BiSect can be sprayed at any stage of the crop life cycle however it is advisable to avoid spraying during flowering as this may interfere with bees and other pollinators.
Spraying early morning or late afternoon (out of the heat of the day or <25o) is recommended.
On young plants, test spray on a small area first.
Apply fortnightly while problem persists.

TriGuard
TriGuard is a safe and effective alternative to relieve the pressure associated with nematode attack. TriGuardcontains Humic and Fulvic acids and nutrients to promote the health and strength of plants, improving root activity and general plant nutrition.
TriGuard was developed as a result of continuing practical research which has confirmed the nematode deterring properties of several plants extracts (including Tea Tree, Eucalyptus, Neem and Garlic oils). Market based studies have demonstrated improvements where plants had been subjected to significant pressure from nematode infestation. Relief from nematode damage has in many cases, enabled plants to recover and thrive. It is also probable, and practical experience confirms that these natural compounds will provide plants with a continuing level of resistance against invertebrate pests in the short – medium term.
Continued long term use of any one product to control nematodes and/or any specific pest is not advisable because of the risks associated with resistance build-up. We would advise users to use complimentary products such as NemaGo Plus.
Application Rates:
TriGuard is best used as a preventative in early Spring and early Autumn, or strategically at times of stress such as turf renovation or when plants may be under stress from environmental factors. For best results water into the root zone.
For intensively managed turf such as Bowling and Golf greens:
Apply 10 litres/1000m2with sufficient water to drench the soil.
For General use including Agriculture/Horticultural use:
Apply 50 litres – 100 litres per hectare and water well into root zone.
If using in combination with biological inoculants such as Soil & Plant Tonic, follow Tonic applications by approx one week. Re-apply if problem persists.
DO NOT apply when temperature exceeds 30C

Root-MAX
Root-MAX provides quick and effective stress relief for plants and maximum stimulation for plant roots.
Root-MAX combines the nutritional and stimulatory properties of Kelp with a natural/organic surfactant (wetting agent). Root-MAX contains a broad spectrum of plant nutrients as well as vitamins, amino acids, plant growth hormones (Cytokinins & Auxins) and enzymes.
The natural soil wetter in Root-MAX increases cell wall permeability stimulating beneficial microbial activity on the surface of roots and enhancing moisture and nutrient uptake and the rate of development of shoots and roots.
Root-MAX can be sprayed, metered into irrigation water or mixed with fertilizers. In addition to soils, it makes a fantastic wetting agent for coir, peat moss, potting soils and soil-less mixes.
Application Rates:
SOIL OR IRRGATION USE:
Add product (concentrate) to tank to make a 1% solution (1 litre per 100 litres), and apply the diluted solution (tank mix) as a soil drench at 1000 litres per hectare (100 litre of product).

BioPhos
BioPhos is a Phosphorous acid by-product. It comprisesof a mixture of Potassium salts (Mono-Potassium Phosphite, Di-Potassium Phosphite, and Tri-Potassium Phosphite. BioPhos acts as a systemic fungicide and can be used against a number of fungal diseases including Phytopthora and Downy Mildew diseases in most situations.
Because Potassium Phosphites are much milder on plants than the highly acidic Phosphorous Acid products, it can be applied more liberally and with greater confidence. Phosphorous in the Phosphite form is also a more sustainable product becauseitwill not easily become fixed or tied-up in the soil.
Equivalent to 38.5% Phosphorous Acid—Phosphorus (P) 14.5% w/v (Equivalent to 33% P2O5) Potassium (K) 22% w/v (Equivalent to 26.5% K2O)
Application Rates:
Turf, Landscape and General Use:
Apply 300ml - 350ml per 1000m2injected via the fertigation system or sprayed onto the soil surface, and followed by irrigation.
Foliar Application:
Apply 40ml - 60ml per 1000m2 with sufficient water to achieve leaf coverage.
General Agriculture/Horticulture:
Apply 3 - 3.5 litres per hectare injected via the fertigation system or sprayed prior to irrigation.
Foliar Application:
- Orchards and Vineyards: 400ml - 500ml/Ha early in the season, repeat application 3-4 weeks later.
- Broadacre: 200ml/Ha applied early in the season.
- Greenhouse Crops: 100ml/100 Lt. water every 3-4 weeks.
- Field Crops: 300ml - 400ml/Ha early in the season. Repeat application 3-4 weeks later.
DO NOT apply when temperature exceeds 30C.
